Triggered abilities are another relatively straightforward, but instrumental component of Magic. A Judge candidate likely has a basic understanding of triggers - such as being able to regurgitate “AP-NAP” but may not be able to fully explain the relevance of that statement.

There are also a variety of more complex triggers, such as delayed change of zone triggers, duration triggers and triggers with an optional cost. Understanding how these work is just as fundamental as understanding enters-the-battlefield effects, but can take a lot more study before full comprehension is achieved.

We run this in week four because of its balance between relative simplicity and being less critical to the game than taking a turn or casting a spell, particularly when the more confusing cases are less common.
